Amber Muhammad owner of Rasa Salon and Boutique in Germantown, Philadelphia is a hair visionary artist. She has been on the cutting edge of the natural hair care scene for over a decade. This workshop will be an exploration of hair art techniques using all kinds of yarn and mixed media, witch will be provided. We will be braiding twisting and cultivating magical hair masterpieces for all to enjoy at the festival. This is a great workshop for all ages & creativity is greatly appreciated.
Amber Muhammad is a natural hair art visionary. She is a licensed cosmetologist in PA since 1997. Owner of Rasa salon and boutique in Philadelphia, Amber specializes in loc artistry for all hair textures. Featured in Philly Style Magazine, Vibe, Vibe Vixen, Newsweek magazine, winner of City Paper Style Wars, Amber has styled hair and make-up for Jill Scott, Marc Jacobs, Patricia Field, Jay McCarroll, Camille Young Miss Pennsylvania 2002, and Foxy Brown, and Lady Alma. She has taught seminars at the Taliah Waajid World Natural Hair Health and Beauty Show in Atlanta, the Baltimore Natural Hair Care Expo, and the International Beauty Show in NYC. Amber is a member of the Jane Carter Solutions Styling Team, "hair care for humanity." With a bachelors degree in fine arts from Tyler School of Art, Amber passionately approaches hair styling as a sculptor, coloring and make-up with the eyes of a painter. Her inspiration comes from aboriginal cultures of Africa, India, Asia, and Native Americans combined with the excitement of urban life. Her mission is to empower individuals with the confidence to love their natural hair and express it as wearable art. Well known for creative yarn styling and innovative locking techniques, her concepts lead the beauty industry on a new path of enlightenment. Amber has developed her own line of Rasa healing products, along with the Rasa Styling System for training and certification in her techniques. Amber continues to inspire, uplift, and educate the community of hair care professionals.
